About
Artists Lisa Horkin has bachelors in fine arts, from the Columbus College of Art and Design where she studied glass blowing and painting. Pryor to blowing glass, Lisa worked in painted textile mixed media. She showed regionally via local art organizations such as Ohio Designer Craftsman and internationally as a part of The Art Quilt Network. Not having blown glass since college, Lisa came back to blown glass as a means of creative expression in 2002, creating blown glass vessels. Lisa now looks to use similar combination of pattern and design work as she did with her painted textile mixed media, exploring the use of layering glass color, carving the vessels, while also playing with sculpted form. Lisa still shows locally with various art groups and has been in several local galleries. She is the recipient of several grants, has been teaching glass in various studios since 2008. She has been invited in to the glass studio at the Columbus College of Art and Design, as visiting artist in 2013, 2015, and 2017. Lisa currently gives public glass blowing demonstrations and teaches glass blowing at The Franklin Park Conservatory.
